A Brightwork crew arrives with two bags and a vacuum. Clients sometimes expect a van full of bottles. Most homes need five products, and the skill is in the cloths.
The five products
- A neutral all-purpose cleaner for worktops, tables and painted surfaces
- A mild acid for limescale on taps, screens and tiles
- A degreaser for the hob, the extractor and the oven door
- A glass cleaner, which is mostly water and a little alcohol
- A floor cleaner matched to wood, stone or vinyl
All of them are plant-based and fragrance-light. If you have a product you prefer, leave it out with a note and we will use yours.
Cloths, by colour
Each room has its own colour, so a cloth that has been near a toilet never meets a worktop. Blue for glass, green for the kitchen, yellow for basins and baths, red for toilets only. They are washed at sixty degrees after every home.
Machines
A HEPA vacuum with a soft head for wood and a turbo head for carpet, and a flat mop with washable pads. No steam on wood floors, ever.
What we leave at the depot
Bleach on anything but a toilet bowl. Vinegar on stone, because it etches marble. Abrasive pads on steel, glass or enamel. Air fresheners, because a clean room should smell of nothing.
If a home smells strongly of cleaning products, something is being covered up.
What we ask you to supply
A working plug in each room, hot water, and bin bags if you use a particular size. Everything else comes with us and leaves with us.
